We are united in the knowledge that greater public investment in the arts is essential to Canada’s future. We believe that the high quality of life, for which Canada is known, depends on a rich, vibrant and diverse arts and heritage community.

A Coalition for the Arts and for Us All
The Canadian Arts Coalition is launching a call for potential members today. Any national arts service organization, or equivalent, that represents a significant number of individuals interested in the arts, culture or heritage, that agrees to be involved in and promote the Coalition’s work, and that supports at least one of the two measures proposed by the Coalition, is welcome to be part of our group.

A Coalition is [re] Born
Representatives from national organizations convened in October in Ottawa. Attendees discussed a proposed re-launch of a national arts coalition to coordinate the messages and actions of the arts sector during the next federal election campaign. The proposal received an enthusiastic response and incited much discussion about how to collectively keep arts issues on the public and political agenda.

Canadian Arts Coalition Welcomes New Minister of Canadian Heritage
The Canadian Arts Coalition congratulates Mr. James Moore, the new Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages on his appointment to Cabinet.
"We are eager to begin working with the new Minister to fulfill the Conservative Party's assurance that 'the arts are essential to our country and our communities,'" says Anne-Marie Jean, co-chair of the Coalition’s Steering Committee.
